Horse Racing Fans - it's Kentucky Derby time! This calls for the perfect mint julep recipe. Get out your big hat, your silver Julep cups, and your best southern drawl. Here is a Romance Recipe that will soothe your southern soul.

Mint Julep

Prep: moderate

Fat & Cal: big splurge

2 Cups sugar

2 Cups water

Sprigs fresh mint

Crushed ice

Whisky (good whisky)

Make syrup by boiling sugar and water together for five minutes. Cool and place in covered container with several sprigs of fresh mint - refrigerate.

Fill julep cup with crushed ice, 1 Tbsp mint syrup and two ounces whisky. Stir until outside of cup is frosty. Garnish with mint.
