Romantic Picnic Not your Momma's Meatloaf!
A romantic picnic with home-made meatloaf sandwhiches, a bottle of wine or a 6-pack of beer equals L-O-V-E!

Servings: 6 (because you MUST have left-over sandwiches)
INGREDIENTS
3 lbs. ground chuck, 80% meat/20% fat
1 cup fresh basil, chopped
2 tomatoes, chopped
1 lb bacon
2 yellow onions, chopped
¾ cup bread crumbs
2 eggs
Salt & pepper to taste
GRAVY
3 tbsp. flour
1 cup beef broth
1 cup water
2 tbsp. catsup
1 tsp Worcestershire sauce
Salt to taste
1/2 tsp. black pepper
Bacon drippings
Preheat oven to 375F. Fry bacon in large skillet and add onions as soon as the fat gets going. Cook bacon crisp and onions brown. Save the drippings for gravy. Chop bacon.
In large bowl mix meat, basil, tomatoes, eggs, bacon, onions, and bread crumbs. Add salt & pepper. Pack mixture into a 9 x 13 cake pan and bake for 35 minutes.
For gravy - brown flour in bacon drippings, add the rest of the ingredients and keep stirring until thick. Serve a slice of meatloaf right on top of mashed potatoes and cover with gravy!
